Pick up & Drop off
Parents are required to check the child in and out daily using the sign-in, sign-out Sheet posted in the child’s classroom. Parents are to personally escort their child into the preschool each morning and inform the staff that the child has arrived. In the afternoon, parents must sign-out using same system and notify staff that they are leaving with the child. Parents are asked to inform staff of schedule changes such as late arrival or early pick-up so they can accommodate the change into the schedule.

Written or telephone notification must accompany any individual who picks ups your child and is listed on the Emergency Card. Written notification with parent’s signature personally presented by the parent is the only acceptable notification if your child is to leave with someone not listed on the card. Your child will not be released to anyone without proper verification. It is up to you to keep this verification up to date.

Absenteeism
Parents are asked to call the Daycare by 8:45 a.m. on days their child will not be attending; parents are responsible for payment if the child does not attend. Parents are asked to please notify the daycare if their child will not be attending. Your child’s wellbeing is our priority. After 3 days of absence, we will follow up to check on the safety and wellbeing of your child.
Items to bring

Teachers will be distributing a list of items that will be needed for the school year. Traditionally, extra clothes, crib sheets, blankets, sheets, a lunch and two sets of snacks are required. All items must be labeled.

Prepared Bottles

If your infant is enrolled in our daycare, it is mandatory for all parents to bring in an already prepared bottle.

Clothing

Our day-to-day activities involve both mind and body so we recommend dressing your children in comfortable clothes that they can play and express freely in.

Each child must have an extra set of clothes to change in case of an accident. These clothes must be labeled and brought in to be stored in each child’s individual cubby or changing table basket. Soiled clothes will be returned in a plastic bag at the end of the day. Children will need to come in with comfortable footwear. NO HEELS, SANDLES, OR OPEN TOED SHOES. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD WITH ANY JEWELERY. IF YOU INSIST ON DOING SO WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST JEWELERY.

Nap Time
After a productive morning, the children will rest on school mats for a 2-hour nap. Blankets are to go home on Friday and laundered over the weekend. Children will not be left unattended; someone will always be monitoring during the whole nap time. Pillows are prohibited and blankets are placed below the waist, not over the head.
Toys
From home toys are not allowed into the daycare unless instructed differently by your child’s teacher.
Meals
We ask that you send in two healthy snacks and lunch for your child 5 days a week. Why is this so important? Well, we have reasons to believe that a poor diet can affect a child’s behavior and learning development. Please help us encourage our children and future generations to eat healthy every day.
Birthdays
We believe birthdays are meant to be special and celebrated! With that being said, we ask that you check in with your child’s teachers prior to the birthday so details and specifics can be discussed and established. Birthday parties are held between the times of 10 am and 11:30 am.
Outdoor Play
All infants play outdoors 2-3 times daily, riding in a carriage or stroller may account for no more than 1 of the outdoor play periods for infants.

Toddlers (12months to 3years old) shall participate in 60-90 minutes per day to vigorous physical activity, (prorated for children who attend the program for only part of the day -30minutes of active play per 2-3 hours in the program.

Preschoolers (3 to 6 years old) shall participate in 90-120 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous physical activity. Children have outdoor play for 60-90 minutes per day except in adverse weather conditions that require shorter periods outdoor.

Discipline

It is the belief of the Daycare that all discipline matters should be resolved at the lowest possible level. Staff is alert to recognizing warning signals of potential problems and intercedes whenever necessary. Children are encouraged to “problem—solve” rather than use their hands or teeth. Staff is always nearby to help work through difficulties.

Our philosophy is that social skills must be practiced. The staff will demonstrate appropriate behavior to other adults and to the children. The staff is prepared to remind and practice with the children as often as necessary. The staff is not permitted to physically reprimand (slap or hit) a child.

The Daycare does not permit any abusive behavior or language on the premises by any parent or, staff member. Parent or any other person affiliated with the Daycare failure to comply with this policy may be grounds for immediate termination of services. We will attempt to make the changes necessary to eliminate inappropriate behavior. Positive statement and redirection of negative behavior are practiced. When this fails, these guidelines will be implemented.

  1. A conduct report is written by the Director and discussed with the parents
  2. A conversation will take place with the Director to discuss further action if necessary

If any inappropriate behavior continues after this child has 3 conduct reports written on him/her during the school year along with meetings between parent, teacher, and director then the following procedure would take place:

  1. If the problem continues the child will be removed from the Daycare.
Examples of Inappropriate Behavior
  1. Hitting, kicking, physical abuse, throwing objects towards staff or participants.
  2. Defiance of authority.
  3. Abuse of equipment supplies or facilities.
Labeling
Label all items that come from home. This is to protect your child’s health and safety as well as to prevent loss of possessions. The Daycare is not liable for lost items. Label all items with permanent ink.
Field Trips
Throughout the year the children will go on field trips. A parent letter or notice will be posted or sent home before field trips. (Parent must purchase T-Shirt if child wants to participate in trips).
Walks
The children will be taken on walks. A permission slip will need to be signed for the school year.
Accidents or Injury
If a child is injured during the day and medical attention is required, the parent will be notified to come and pick up their child. If the situation is an emergency, the parent will be asked to meet the staff member and the child at the closest hospital emergency room. It is vital for parents to keep emergency information up-to-date and inform staff of temporary or permanent changes of address, phones numbers, emergency contact people and immunizations.
Accident Report
An accident report will be written when your child is injured. When picking your child up please sign and date the report and leave at the Daycare for your child’s file.
Incident Report
If your child hurts another child or staff, you will receive a report notifying you of the incident. When picking your child up please sign and date the report and leave it at the Daycare for your child’s files.
